Electric Motors Corporation has named long-time GM employee, Frank Jenkins, its new president. Jenkins had previously served as Manager of Sales Promotions and Partnerships for General Motors and developed partnerships with many large corporations.
EMC develops electric power drive systems for vehicles, while integrating hybrid technologies to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. Their products range from small, ultra-high efficiency engines to large electric motors designed to power trucks and buses.
Jenkins will oversee the EMC as it develops new power plants and gears up to launch their electric pickup truck. The Flash, based on the Ford F-150, is expected to deliver 40-100 miles per gallon. The company seeks to boost fuel efficiency in the full size pickup segment by integrating its electric drive into existing vehicle platforms. The Flash prototype will make its public debut in April at the New York International Auto Show.
EMC plans to begin production of 350 electric trucks this summer in Elkhart County, Indiana. The factory is expected to bring up to 2,000 jobs to the area, in need of economic restoration.
